The DeRocher family farms in northwest Iowa on about 1200 acres of corn and soybeans. Kevin DeRocher, father of the family, has been farming since 1984. Growing up, he knew he wanted to get into farming or construction work — and as luck would have it, he ended up a farmer when some land in the area came available for rent.

In addition to Kevin and his wife, Sandi, the DeRocher family is made up of five kids, four boys and a girl, spanning from 25 years old to 12 years old. The two older boys, who work in construction, are dabbling in farming on their own land. Kevin believes it’s good for them to learn the ropes now, and he anticipates one day handing over the reins of the family farm to these two boys.
